    1. In 1865, two Erie families associated by marriage, joined in a modest venture to manufacture door hinges. The Selden and Griswold union paved the way for The Griswold Manufacturing Company of Erie, Pennsylvania, recognized world wide as producers of fine cast iron products, especially cookware.

    2. On July 21, 1891, Milton and Bernard Wagner organized a partnership, and formed the Wagner Manufacturing Company in Sidney, Ohio.They started with cast iron hollow ware and added nickel-plated ware in 1892.

    3. Sometime in the 1890ís, Joseph Lodge founded a company in South Pittsburg, Tennessee for the manufacture of cast iron hollowware named the Blacklock Foundry. In 1910, the foundry burned down and was rebuilt. The Blacklock Foundry was incorporated and named Lodge Manufacturing Company at that time.
