American Brass & Iron (Oakland, California) ventured into cast iron cookware sometime during their long history in the foundry business, discontinuing this particular venture about 1980 and redirecting their efforts to iron pipe.
In 1889, the year that Benjamin Harris look office as President of the United States, the Atlanta Stove Works brought to Atlanta a revolutionary idea in the field of cooking, the Barrett Range, made of cast iron, would burn wood or coal and the fire looped around the oven before going out the flue.
Founded in 1898 Atlanta Stove Works made stoves & ranges. In 1902, the owners started Birmingham Stove & Range in Birmingham, Alabama to make stoves and hollowware . They sold their hollowware through their Atlanta foundry until it closed in 1957, then through Birmingham Stove & Range while keeping the Atlanta trade marks
In 1900 the Chicago Hardware Foundry Company opened. In 1934 they bought the cookware line from Favorite Stove and Range.
The Favorite Stove and Range Company officially opened on February 25, 1889 in Piqua, Ohio. They produced hollow ware and the line included gem pans, kettles, griddles and skillets. They did extensive porcelainizing, especially in blue.
The Sidney Hollow Ware Company was originally located in Sidney, Ohio. At that time their name was P. Smith, Bro. & Co. They manufactured kettles, stoves, bells and machinery. They started manufacturing hollow ware in 1886 or shortly before that time period.
In 1874. the Sheboygan Cast Steel Company was formed doing general foundry work. In 1876, they perfected a porcelain enamel process. They started selling enameled cast iron utensils, and the public demanded more.
On July 9, 1903, the Wapak Hollow Ware Company started business in Wapakoneta, Ohio. They are mostly recognized for their Indian Head skillets.
