WEBSITE “OPEN FORUM” PROBLEMS AND MORE

The website was discussed at the Business Meeting at the 2008 Convention.  One of the main issues was that some members could not get into the FORUM.  Other said they could not get into the Members Only section. We will try to help with those problems in this article.

First, the FORUM.  Those who use AOL as their internet provider have problems.  This is due to the AOL security measures, and not the website.  Many AOL users stated that they use Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, and not the AOL browser.  After their computer comes up with the AOL Homepage, they minimize this, and then double-click on Internet Explorer, type in the website address,  http://gcica.org, in the browser window, and that permits them to use the FORUM.  Some use other browsers such as Google or FireFox, etc.  Firefox is an award winning browser and be downloaded free and it does work with the FORUM.  You can go to the following website to download it:  http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox

Second, the Members Only section.  When you click on the Members Only section, a pop-up window appears where you are to type in the username:  ironpots, and the password, jump4j0y.  If you computer has pop-up ad programs which prevent pop-ups, it will most like stop the sign-in pop-up for the Member Only section.  Most of the pop-up programs show what is being block in the lower right hand corner of the computer screen and permit you to click on it and show the pop-up window.  If your program does not show the pop-ups being block, check into its security levels and maybe it will permit the little window to show in the bottom right hand corner so you can permit the sign-in pop up to show.

We will be looking into both of these problems in detail in the next several weeks to see if we can make it easier to use the FORUM and also solve the Members Only problem for those who have had problems.  What is given here is information which we hope will help you use these areas now.  We will also be looking into other items that were mentioned at the convention.  Your website administrators are not professionals on websites and will be hiring some professional help to get these jobs done.  Please stay with us as we attempt to make these improvements.  They may take some time.
