At the convention in Erie several folks inquired about the Boeing Everett Plant Tour where you observe the 777 being built. This is the largest building, by volume, in the world and the home of the 747,767,777 & 787 Dreamliner. The tour itself last 90 minutes and involves a 1/3 mile walk, 21 steep steps & an elevator ride. No photo or video cameras allowed on the tour. Check out the website at http://boeing.com/commercial/tours.
The plant is located 35 miles north of Renton, approximately 45 minutes driving time. If there are enough people interested in going we would be able to arrange for a Gray Line bus to pick up and return us to the hotel and group tickets could be reserved in advance. The cost of transportation would be under $20.00 per person for a 45 or 55 passenger bus. Reserved tour tickets are $18.00 per person.
We would need to have a commitment & payment by April 1 for a Wednesday, May 2nd tour.
Another option for those interested in air & space would be the Boeing Museum of Flight located in south Seattle, less than 10 miles north of Renton. This is the largest & most comprehensive air & space collection in the United States. Planes include the Concorde, Air Force One and an early version of the SR71. Go to the website http://www.museumofflight.org/ for more information.
The cost is $12 per person for seniors and I am sure transportation could be arranged. Group tours are available. Again, we need firm commitments in order to contract for the bus.
Since Renton is the home of all Boeing 737 planes, which many of you will fly to the convention on, there is much interest in air & space.
Please let Billie or Frank King know of your interest or if you want more information. Home phone is 425-747-9965; email – fbking@clearwire.net

A bus is being rented to take interested convention-goers who want to go to O’Neils home and farm. They anticipate the bus will cost up to $20 per person, depending on interest. “We’ll have a trip to our house in the morning for donuts and juice and then to the farm for a late lunch and tour of the new IRON SHACK at our farm,” says Marg O’Neil.
Contact Marg O’Neil at 253-564-4224 or email loneil7701@aol.com for this event. Deadline for this is April 1, 2012.
